CRUNCH TIME - 12 Studying Tips
So it appears that we're already in April which means that exams and deadlines are upon us and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one feeling the pressure, I just wanted to post something useful and hopefully encouraging in regards to studying and revision. I personally feel as though I have entered the deep end, I'm in my final year of my degree and lets just say the pressure to do well is above and beyond real right now but I'm hopeful that if I keep my head down I will manage everything. | PRODUCTIVITY IS A MUST! |
12 TIPS FOR STUDYING:
1. I like to make a list of realistic targets for the day and stick to that list and if I finish it, I reward myself with something nice like watching something nice or reading or painting my nails or socialising etc. but to get the reward it's important to remember to STICK TO THE PLAN in order to avoid getting side tracked and not finishing the daily list.
2. Wake up early (the earlier you start, the earlier you can finish), also if you want to get a good seat at the library its best to get there early - the early bird catches the worm.
3. Treat studying like a job - have a set amount of hours and standardised breaks per day.
4. Delete social media apps on your phone - it actually really helps, since deleting some off my phone I save about 2 hours a day (honestly) that I would have otherwise spent checking timelines and looking at pictures.
5. Take a break - get a kit kat and chit chat, or whatever tickles your fancy. It's also good to have a change of scenery during your break to refresh your brain, I go on a little walk to a different part of the library or the house (depending on where I am) for a little while but remember not to get carried away and end up having a 3 hour break, especially if you bump into people.
6. Plenty of water is a must and sometimes although they are very unhealthy, energy drinks are sometimes helpful for staying alert (I hate coffee so that's my alternative). Revision/studying snacks are a must as well, it's harder to focus when hungry or peckish.
7. If it's especially sunny, study near a window (or if its hot study outside) it just helps in making things seem better (don't get carried away and lounge in the sun like I sometimes do though).
8. Get a study buddy if you need extra motivation.
9. Talk to yourself. When I'm on my own (so people won't think I'm mad), I like to verbalise my work out loud i.e. reading out an essay aloud to get a realistic idea of what it actually sounds like and how it reads, or reading revision notes aloud, I personally think it helps me memorise things better.
10. If you get fed up just push yourself a little bit harder, remember why you're in your current position and that it will all be worth it in the end.
11. Don't panic, if you panic you just waste your brain's energy on something unproductive.
12. Have a positive attitude and believe in yourself.
All the best everyone, just remember when it's all done you'll have the freedom to PLAY HARD
